About: FOG is a Linux-based network computer cloning solution for Windows, Mac OSX and various Linux distributions that ties together a few open-source tools with a PHP-based web interface. FOG doesn’t use any boot disks, or CDs; everything is done via TFTP and PXE.

Some Fossies usage hints in advance:

  1. To see the Doxygen generated documentation please click on one of the items in the steelblue colored "quick index" bar above or use the side panel at the left which displays a hierarchical tree-like index structure and is adjustable in width.
  2. If you want to search for something by keyword rather than browse for it you can use the client side search facility (using Javascript and DHTML) that provides live searching, i.e. the search results are presented and adapted as you type in the Search input field at the top right.
  3. Doxygen doesn't incorporate all member files but just a definable subset (basically the main project source code files that are written in a supported language). So to search and browse all member files you may visit the Fossies
  4. fogproject-1.5.9.tar.gz contents page and use the Fossies standard member browsing features (also with source code highlighting and additionally with optional code folding).

FOGProject starting point

Introduction

FOG is a free open-source cloning/imaging solution/rescue suite. FOG can be used to image Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Window 8, and Windows 10 PCs using PXE, PartClone, and a Web GUI to tie it together. Includes features like memory and disk test, disk wipe, av scan, task scheduling, inventory management, and remote installation of software packages. Features can be triggered remotely from the web GUI, once the machine has been registered.

Install stable version

  1. Install and update your chosen linux server

  2. Download the file(s)

  • All that is needed to start installation is to download the files to perform the install. Choose one of the following methods you prefer;

    • ZIP archive wget https://github.com/FOGProject/fogproject/archive/master.zip; unzip master.zip

    • TAR/GZ archive wget https://github.com/FOGProject/fogproject/archive/master.tar.gz; tar xzf master.tar.gz

    • git git clone https://github.com/fogproject/fogproject.git fogproject-master

  1. Run the install script as root and follow all prompts accordingly
sudo -i
cd /path/to/fogproject-master/bin
./installfog.sh
  1. Enjoy

Install latest development version

  1. Install and update your chosen linux server

  2. Download the file(s)

  • All that is needed to start the installation is to download the files to perform the install. Choose one of the following methods you prefer;

    • git git clone https://github.com/fogproject/fogproject.git fogproject-dev-branch; cd fogproject-dev-branch; git checkout dev-branch (recommended if you want to keep up with current developments!

    • ZIP archive wget https://github.com/FOGProject/fogproject/archive/dev-branch.zip; unzip dev-branch.zip

    • TAR/GZ archive wget https://github.com/FOGProject/fogproject/archive/dev-branch.tar.gz; tar xzf dev-branch.tar.gz

  1. Run the install script as root and follow all prompts accordingly
sudo -i
cd /path/to/fogproject-dev-branch/bin
./installfog.sh
  1. Enjoy
