ParaView Documentation

Some Fossies usage hints in advance:

  1. To see the Doxygen generated documentation please click on one of the items in the steelblue colored "quick index" bar above or use the side panel at the left which displays a hierarchical tree-like index structure and is adjustable in width.
  2. If you want to search for something by keyword rather than browse for it you can use the client side search facility (using Javascript and DHTML) that provides live searching, i.e. the search results are presented and adapted as you type in the Search input field at the top right.
  3. Doxygen doesn't incorporate all member files but just a definable subset (basically the main project source code files that are written in a supported language). So to search and browse all member files you may visit the Fossies
  4. ParaView-v5.6.1.tar.xz contents page and use the Fossies standard member browsing features (also with source code highlighting and additionally with optional code folding).

ParaView

Introduction

ParaView is an open-source, multi-platform data analysis and visualization application based on Visualization Toolkit (VTK).

The first public release was announced in October 2002. Since then, the project has grown through collaborative efforts between Kitware Inc., Sandia National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Army Research Laboratory, and various other government and commercial institutions, and academic partners.

Learning Resources

Building

There are two ways to build ParaView:

  • Perhaps the easiest method for beginners to build ParaView from source is using the ParaView Superbuild. The superbuild downloads and builds all of ParaView's dependencies as well as ParaView itself.

  • It is also possible to build ParaView without using the superbuild. ParaView's dependencies must be available on the system.

Reporting Bugs

If you have found a bug:

  1. If you have a source-code fix, please read the CONTRIBUTING.md document.

  2. Otherwise, please join the one of the ParaView Mailing Lists and ask about the expected and observed behaviors to determine if it is really a bug.

  3. Finally, if the issue is not resolved by the above steps, open an entry in the ParaView Issue Tracker.

Contributing

See CONTRIBUTING.md for instructions to contribute.
