1 Login In

The starting screen of SiteMgr YAP ( Image 1) lets you log into the system, by entering your username and password. After it, you must press the continue button, and you'll be at the directory selection screen. If you detect a mistake, you may press the clear button.

2 Selecting your working directory

The directory selection screen of SiteMgr YAP (Image 2) lets you select the directory you want to enter. A user could have more than one and here is where you may select the one you want to operate. After it, you must press the continue button, and you'll be at the main screen.

3 The Interface

This section, describes the main interface of SiteMgr YAP. Image 3 is an screeenshot of a sample session, after loging in and selecting the working directory.

The following sections describe each part of the interface.

3.1 The Site Button

This button will open in a separate screen the main page of the site that is hosting you. Your icon could be different from the one appearing here.



3.2 The Command Bar

The command bar (Image 4) will let you select a command and perform an operation over a selected file and also creating new files or directories.

3.3 The Message Window

In this window (Image 5) you'll receive alert messages that will inform you about the result of your queries and also of error messages if any. If an operation is succesfull, the title of the message will be displayed in blue. If you get an error message the title will be displayed in red.

3.4 The Upload Window

The user may upload files to the server. This is done in the Upload Window (Image 6). More information on how to upload files is available at the section Uploading a File.

3.5 The Top Button Bar

The two buttons in this bar (image 7), will let you launch a window with these manual pages in HTML format, and also will let you finish your sitemgr session. See Exiting SiteMgr section for more information.

3.6 The File Listing Window

In this window (see Image 8) you'll see all the files you have in the server. For each file is displayed an icon, the file name, the creation/latest modification date, and the size of the file in bytes. If you click over the filename, a new window will be opened with the file as appeared for the people browsing it. The radio button will let you select the file and performing an operation over it (see the section The Command Bar).

3.7 The File Editor

When you press the new or edit button at the Command Bar, this window (see Image 9)will be opened without any content (if you create a file) or with the previous selected html file. The editor will have the functionalities supported by your browser. Pressing the SAVE icon, the contents of the editing windows will be saved, and showed at the File Listing window. Pressing the CLOSE EDITOR icon will close the edition window.

4 Navigating Throw Directories

Subdirectories in the File Listing Window appear like an standard submit button (see Image 10), the rendering of the button may differ from an operating system to other and also depending on the browser you are using. In Linux, with netscape, the button will appear like this: . The icon for subdirectories is the following: . If you click the subdirectory button, you'll get a File Listing with the contents of the subdirectory. Once you are in a subdirectory, you can go into subdirectories if they exist or go back to the previous directory, this is done by selecting the previous directory button (it will appear like this: ).

5 Creating a New File

After clicking the NEW FILE icon, a dialog box (see Image 11) will appear, asking for the name of the file to be created. After entering the filename, a new window with the File Editor will be opened. More information about how to edit a file can be found at the section The File Editor.

6 Editing a File

After selecting the file to edit and clicking the EDIT icon, the File Editor will be opened. More information about how to edit a file can be found at the section The File Editor.

7 Deleting a File

When the user selects the file to be deleted and clicks on the DELETE icon, an alert window (see Image 12 ) will ask for a confirmation. By pressing OK, the user confirms the deletion of the file or directory. Files are deleted always, a directory can only be deleted if it is empty. If not empty, the user must navigate into the directory, and delete all the files there.

8 Copying a File or Directory

After selecting the file or directory to be copied, the user clicks on the COPY icon, and sitemgr open a prompt (see Image 13), asking for the name of the new file or directory. The prompt contains three buttons: OK for submitting the request, CLEAR for clearing the data previously entered, and CANCEL for dismissing the request. The copy of directories includes all the subdirectories.

9 Moving (renaming) a File or Directory

After the user clicks on the MOVE icon, sitemgr will open a window (see Image 14), asking for the name of the new file or directory. The prompt contains three buttons: OK for submitting the request, CLEAR for clearing the data previously entered, and CANCEL for dismissing the request. The copy of directories includes all the subdirectories.

10 Creating a Directory

If the user wants to create a new directory, the first step is to click on the MKDIR button, then sitemgr will display a window asking for the new directory name (see Image 15 ). Supplying the name and pressing OK, the directory will be created. If a file or directory is already using the same name, an error message will appear at the Message Window

11 Uploading a File

When the user wants to upload a new file, the first step is to press at the source field the Navigate button (also the Browse button or other different name depending on your browser and language). These items, can be found at the Upload Window. After this button is pressed, file selection dialog will be opened. The user can then choose the file to upload, and press OK (see Image 16). After selecting the file to upload, a new name must be supplied in the Target field, SiteMgr will suggest a name by clicking with the mouse in this text field. Finally, by pressing the UPLOAD button, the file will be uploaded to the server.

12 Exiting

By selecting the EXIT button, a prompt will be oipened, asking if we really want to exit. Pressing OK, sitemgr window will be closed. Pressing CANCEL, the session of sitemgr will continue.
